Inspection and maintenance planning for offshore wind structural components: integrating fatigue failure criteria with Bayesian networks and Markov decision processes

چکیده

Exposed to the cyclic action of wind and waves, offshore structures are subject fatigue deterioration processes throughout their operational life, therefore constituting a structural failure risk. In order control risk adverse events, physics-based models, which often contain significant uncertainties, can be updated with information collected from inspections, thus enabling decision-makers dictate more optimal informed maintenance interventions. The identified decision rules are, however, influenced by model criterion specified in formulation pre-posterior decision-making problem. this paper, criteria integrated Bayesian networks Markov processes. proposed methodology is implemented numerical experiments, various crack growth models criteria, for management an detail under deterioration. Within propagation, reliability estimates, policies derived through heuristics partially observable (POMDPs) thoroughly analysed, demonstrating capability assessment diagram redundancy substructures, as well adaptability POMDP policies.

Integrated Inspection Planning and Preventive Maintenance for a Markov Deteriorating System Under Scenario-based Demand Uncertainty

In this paper, a single-product, single-machine system under Markovian deterioration of machine condition and demand uncertainty is studied.  The objective is to find the optimal intervals for inspection and preventive maintenance activities in a condition-based maintenance planning with discrete monitoring framework. At first, a stochastic dynamic programming model whose state variable is the ...

Planning structural inspection and maintenance policies via dynamic programming and Markov processes. Part II: POMDP implementation

The overall objective of this two part study is to highlight the advanced attributes, capabilities and use of stochastic control techniques, and especially Partially Observable Markov Decision Processes (POMDPs), that can address the conundrum of planning optimum inspection/monitoring and maintenance policies based on stochastic models and uncertain structural data in real time. In this second ...

Markov Decision Processes for Road Maintenance Optimisation

This paper primarily focuses on finding a policy for maintaining a road segment. The paper presents two methods for finding such a policy. The first one is using a probabilistic Markov Decision Process in order to determine the optimal maintenance policy. The second method is used by the Road and Hydraulic Engineering Division (DWW). That policy however is not optimal but does not require an MD...

Fatigue Life of Wind Turbine Structural Components

Modern mega watt class wind turbines are exposed to high and complex loads. At the same time the aim is to realize light weight and optimized structures. Compared to other industries the design lifetime of a wind turbine is very long. Applying simulation tools for the predictions of fatigue life is therefore essential. This paper presents the approaches for fatigue anaylses used in the wind ind...
